Banksia park daymap12/10/2023 ![]() Our priorities of Quality learning and teaching and Confident, effective learners and citizens continue to support young people to have bright futures, become global citizens and to contribute to the prosperity of society. People and organisations achieve great things by synergising, applying shared values and being focussed on their vision and priorities. Great school communities are just that groups of people working together for a common purpose. I was honoured to win the position of BPIHS Principal 15 years later, beginning the role in January 2006 and I m very proud to have been the longest-serving Principal of the school. Happily, half of my career in education has been committed to Banksia Park, having won the position of Home Economics Coordinator from January 1984 and being appointed by the inaugural Principal Mr Les Kemp a position I held until 1991, including teaching some PE and Maths during this time. This support structure will extend beyond the existing funding agreement. ASPIRING OR LEAD (EXISTING) SCHOOLS IN THE PROGRAMĪspiring or Lead (existing) schools in the program must provide support to schools entering the program for the first time. demonstrate commitment to achieving sustainability.taking part in an interview with a professional writer to develop a case study for future resources if required.possible participation in a mentorship arrangement with a SA school highly experienced in internationalising practices to share knowledge, resources and experiences.evaluating activities (survey or data collection).helping generate ideas and prototyping by presenting a full report at the end of program.WHAT THE PROGRAM INVOLVESĪll schools involved in the grant program must commit to: ICT equipment and training for collaborative learning with students of other nations and cultures.creating language programs, including bilingual programs.creating school cultures that are welcoming to all students.Council of International Schools (CIS) Accreditation – if selected by an individual school and aligned to School Improvement Plan.staff release time to build community support and engagement activities.professional development to build staff capability.create welcoming environments for international students, including those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.establish school culture and practices to facilitate international and intercultural learning for all students.This page provides information about the grants program and which schools are involved. The Internationalising Schools Grant Program helps schools run activities that build intercultural capability and understanding. The lead teacher is Dr Reena Cavouras-Hyde, supported by Zinta Ozolins and the student Growing Global Citizens committee. In 2020 Victor Harbor High School was successful in receiving a grant to be an aspiring school in the International schools grant program.
